“The first place I go for inspiration is the markets,” says Maccapani Missoni, which is perhaps not surprising, given her sartorial eye. “I think markets are one of the best ways to really understand where you are. And they’re a great place to find a keepsake that won’t necessarily be in the souvenir shops.” In Paros, she particularly appreciated vintage, 1960’s -era clothing and textiles she found while exploring.

Opens in a new windowParostià to excursions to learn about Paros’ history, it was extraordinary.” So fun, in fact, that when she returned to Italy, she was wiped out by the bliss of it all. “My sides were literally sore from laughing too hard with my friends at dinner. I couldn’t stop, the entire trip! The mood at Cosme was conducive to checking out from reality for a bit. It’s the kind of place where you feel free. Where you feel happy.”
There was a catharsis apparent in visiting Paros, too. “I couldn’t travel in depth for a while because, first, I was in the early years of motherhood, and then the pandemic hit. I really need to travel to help develop my ideas,” says Maccapani Missoni. “You never know when something is going to hit you later on.”
