The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts traces its heritage to Compagnia Italiana Grandi Alberghi (CIGA), a company founded in 1906 and listed on the Milan Stock Exchange. In 1994, ITT Sheraton (acquired by Starwood in 1998) acquired CIGA and created The Luxury Collection brand, designed to be the world’s most renowned assemblage of international hotels and resorts.
Comprised of three palaces that date from the 14th, 19th and 20th centuries, Hotel Danieli was once home to several noble families of Venice. Today it’s applauded for its rich collection of precious art and antiques, and luxurious guestrooms with balconies overlooking the city’s famed lagoon.
The collection continues to grow. The newest additions include the Suiran in Kyoto, Augustine in Prague, The St. Anthony in San Antonio and Las Alcobas in Mexico City.
